Did you know that objects left on the floor are one of the main causes of accidents at home and at work?

Although they may appear harmless, objects that are stored incorrectly or on pathways can be the cause of colisions, falls and slips that can have serious consequences for your health. Although these accidents may seem like " ordinary " accidents, they can easily be avoided by taking simple steps to eliminate the risk at source.

PictureSafety

To do so, we invite you to follow the recommendations below:

  • Regular tidying up of the workstation (waste sorting, removal of unnecessary storage, use of storage cupboards, etc.)
  • An obstacle-free floor, free of all kinds of clutter, to prevent falls.
  • Clear circulation and evacuation routes to allow free movement and evacuation in the event of an emergency
  • A warning system for all potentially risky situations

Organising your workspace more effectively, tidying up your belongings and getting rid of superfluous items can limit risks and even eliminate certain dangerous situations !

In addition to the risk of people falling, unsuitable storage facilities can have a high calorific potential, which significantly increases the risk of fire.

In addition, an uncluttered working environment promotes well-being in the workplace and decreased stress management, strengthening occupational risk prevention.

As a reminder, waste collection and sorting bins are available on the CERN premises. To help you tidy up your offices and workspaces, CERN also runs a regular waste collection and tidying campaign. Keep an eye out for the annual campaign !

In conclusion, avoid storing objects and bulky items as much as possible: your safety will benefit.

Remember… Obstacles removed, danger cleared !
